SA: BankSA lifts rates

BankSA has lifted interest rates by 0.10 of a percentage point .. blaming higher funding
costs due to the US subprime mortgage crisis and global credit crunch.

The bank says its standard variable home loan rate will rise to 9.47 per cent from
Thursday .. for new and existing customers.

General Manager CHRIS WARD says almost half the bank's home loan customers have fixed
rate home loans and won't be affected by the change.

The variable home loan rate increase will add about 17 dollars a month to the average
loan of 250 thousand dollars over 30 years.
